JOB PURPOSE:
The Maintenance Planner will serve as the critical strategist who bridges the gap between maintenance operations and production goals. Primary responsibility is to move the facility from a reactive "break-fix" cycle to a proactive "planned" environment by ensuring that every technician has the what, why, and how before starting a job.
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Continuous improvement of the Preventive Maintenance (PM) program.
- Rewrite maintenance manuals and checklists to include step-by-step instructions, diagrams, and precise specifications (e.g., torque settings or lubricant types).
- Prioritize tasks that tackle the critical failure modes of high-impact machinery like Metal detectors, Conveyor Belts, Baggers, Pumps, Mixers, Sealers, and Scales
- Analyze historical downtime data from the CMMS (like SAP, Maximo or Tracktian), adjust how often PMs occur to prevent over-maintenance while ensuring optimal performance.
- Produce detailed job plans for mechanics so work can be executed smoothly, safely, and without the need to hunt for missing parts or tools.
- Create "work packages" that identify all labor, specialized tools, and kitted spare parts before scheduling.
- Analyze asset reliability to determine which equipment poses the highest risk to food safety or production.
- Ensure all maintenance, compliance protocols strictly follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety standards (e.g., SQF, FDA).
- Coordinate with production supervisors to find downtime windows that satisfy both maintenance needs and production quotas.
- 2–5 years of industrial, hands-on maintenance experience.
- A high school diploma or GED is the minimum; bachelor's degree in engineering or industrial technology is preferred
- Proficiency in CMMS software and Microsoft Excel (for data analysis) is essential.
- Credentials such as CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional) or CMRT preferred
- Ability to prioritize and learn quickly
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills.
- Analytical and mechanically inclined
- Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Maintenance, Product, QA and Sanitation
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
- Ability to lift 55lbs

This position is eligible for an annual bonus (based on the incentive program terms and conditions).
