Maintenance Manager
Location: West Jordan, Utah
Department: Maintenance

Reports to: VP of Operations
Schedule: Monday through Friday, with evenings and weekends as needed



Position Summary
The Maintenance Manager leads maintenance operations for a ready-to-eat food manufacturing facility. This role owns equipment reliability, uptime, and team performance across production lines and facility systems.
You will lead a team while working on the floor to ensure equipment runs safely and efficiently. You will build systems, develop people, and drive results. This role requires a strong leader who can troubleshoot, make decisions fast, and keep production running.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership and Team Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop maintenance technicians across multiple shifts
  • Build a strong team culture focused on accountability, safety, and performance
  • Set clear expectations and hold team members accountable for results and behavior
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and skill development
  • Support bilingual communication across the workforce, English and Spanish
Operations and Equipment Reliability
  • Drive a preventive maintenance program that reduces downtime and increases uptime
  • Ensure fast response to breakdowns and strong troubleshooting execution
  • Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure timely startup of production lines each shift
  • Support and maintain equipment including baggers, sealers, conveyors, and scales


Technical Leadership
  • Serve as the technical lead for plant equipment and facility systems
  • Train team members in troubleshooting, repairs, and safe operation
  • Support equipment such as Viking and Olsen baggers, metal detectors, and packaging systems
  • Oversee facility systems including HVAC, refrigeration, compressed air, and utilities
  • Develop and maintain SOPs and maintenance standards
Safety and Food Compliance
  • Lead safety efforts within maintenance and enforce safe work practices
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, and SQF standards
  • Partner with HR and Operations to maintain a strong safety program
  • Prepare for audits and always ensure maintenance readiness
Planning and Systems Management
  • Manage maintenance schedules, labor, and shift coverage
  • Oversee parts inventory, vendors, and maintenance expenses
  • Track downtime, PM completion, and maintenance performance metrics
  • Use systems such as UpKeep or similar CMMS to manage work orders and reporting
Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Work closely with Production, QA, and Leadership teams
  • Align maintenance priorities with production needs
  • Support continuous improvement and efficiency projects

Qualifications

Required
  • 3+ years of maintenance leadership experience in manufacturing
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical and electrical systems
  • Experience with industrial equipment including hydraulics, refrigeration, HVAC, and 3-phase electrical
  • Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced production environment
  • Experience managing downtime, PM programs, and maintenance systems
  • Fluent in English
Preferred
  • Food manufacturing experience, ready-to-eat or similar environment
  • Experience with packaging equipment such as baggers, sealers, conveyors, and metal detectors
  • PLC and HMI troubleshooting experience
  • Bilingual English and Spanish strongly preferred
